We value the uniqueness of every individual and work together to ensure each person’s success.
In our Mission, Vision and Values, we use words like "celebrate," "foster," "embody" and "serve" to describe our vision of the future, where we strive to bring transformational cultural, social and economic change to our metropolitan, regional and global communities, enriching the lives of the people who live there in a variety of ways. It's also Pillar 4 our our Strategic Plan: Foster an environment of invigorating multiculturalism, globalism, diversity and inclusion.
But we can't expect to change the world without action and accountability. The Chancellor’s Diversity Council, made up of student, faculty and staff members from across the university, has one mission — to facilitate the realization of UMKC’s Mission and Strategic Plan, including Pillar 4. The council reaches across the institution to promote access, respect, inclusiveness and community in all of UMKC’s learning and working environments and through its Inclusive Excellence report, to hold ourselves accountable.
